Hey Arnold! fanart + Treasure Planet

New pic!

Description from DA:
“Or: “Take a picture; it’ll last longer.”…I dunno about the colors. They just… happened, lol. (So, don’t ask.)
I didn’t used to ship them till I thought about it, and was like… ‘yeah… that could work…’I kind of like this (imaginary) couple! They’re:
– both from the country (and kind of poor…?)
– nice, polite people
– have a hidden rebellious side
– have the same color scheme (green) lolz(Also, he kind of obviously likes her… well, he blatantly states it, lol.)
Plus, they’re cute together (??) So, whatever.

**Maybe spoilers?…**
Also, I saw “Treasure Planet” a couple of days ago (for the first time… I’m late, I know… Netflix-ing it up here). It was cool though… except for the slightly cliché ‘bad guy’ theme of ‘pretending to be your friend, then having a change of heart in the middle and really becoming your friend, but are still on the other bad guy side; then you find out and feel betrayed.’ Yup, that kind of theme, lolz. But, it was fine… I like their little future-inventions of things! Kinda reminded me of my story, Nekoturr’s Realm… (in a good or bad way though, Gena?) Anywho!! Check ya later! 🙂

Digital Manga.com, The Hunger Games, Atlantis and new art (sorta)

I have good news! I’ve been accepted to publish one of my comics on Digitalmanga.com/emanga.com!! Haha, it’s just “One-Shot!” though… but maybe I’ll try making other stories for them; I dunno. (But I think they only want completed titles!)

Speaking of ‘completed titles’, here’s a half-done illustration for a totally un-completed title, lol.

It’s actually more finished than this, but eh… I don’t like submitting almost-done things! hehe…
I semi-want to get started on a webcomic, but I don’t want it to end up as something unfinished again. Especially while I’m submitting my comics to all of these companies and contests… I might have the time. But, we’ll see.

P.S. I was told that I look like Rue. O_o

I just finished watching “The Hunger Games” (and before that, “Atlantis”), and well…
Aren’t we all already participating in our own “Hunger Games”? Isn’t that whole movie a metaphor for what’s already going on in our society? (I’m supposing that’s sort of the point, but…) When you think about it, “society” really tries to hurt and compete with each other for “survival”, to make themselves look better (a brand or name), or to pit us against each other for the things they say that we need… but even the things that we really DO need (food), they ration it to us and sell it way over-priced, just to make a few extra bucks in their pockets (like oil). Also, I dislike how reality T.V. is (or, has turned into) just a big scene that glorifies one’s own sin for entertainment. Just like glorifying murder (in “The Hunger Games”), huh!

“Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him.” ~1 John 3:15
21 “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.” ~Matthew 5:21-22

Are we really supposed to cheer on the “winner”? There is no real winner in that sort of “game.”
So, us hating one another is just one step away from actually murdering someone. In our hearts, we have already murdered them, or wished for it… Well, all I’ll say is that we need to be careful on who we are casting our ”hate” on.
Though, we should “hate what is evil” ;P lol (Romans 12:9- “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.”) ((Not necessarily “who” is evil…! But, their evil behavior, right? The act/sin itself, right?))

[**Possible spoilers?**]

…Which brings me to Atlantis. It was an okay film. I’m not a pro film critic or anything, but I give it a B/B+… I cannot exactly say what was ‘wrong’ with it (maybe I will be able to if I think about it some more, or see it again– maybe the sometimes cheesy dialogue, lol), but that’s just how I felt on the matter. I did like the conflict between their love of money and supporting their friends. I suppose it’s a ‘realistic’-ish view on what might happen. Though, I’m disturbed by the love of money, itself.

“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” ~Matthew 6:24

I wonder if they would have been okay with not getting anything in the end? I guess it was just kind of weird that they still got what they (selfishly) wanted, but at least it happened in the nicer way than simply stealing from the Atlanteans (<-huh? lol) who live there. 😛 Oh well… I liked the visuals and voices though! 😛 🙂

Nekoturr’s Realm Title picture

Here’s a new title pic (to go with the many other illustrations of this story, lol)!

Since doing “My Sweet Indulgence”, I really had no ‘experience’ doing any title pictures… just illustrations (they are a bit different to me!). Even so, I was not great at illustrating, itself, lol (am I now? =_=). But thanks to my friends on DA, I was able to learn a lot about it….~ So, here’s one to you!

Also, this is old art (again– surprise, surprise! lol). Well, it started out super-old, but I edited/tweaked it to make it look how it is now. I’m just tired of seeing these half-done images on my computer! I have to finish what I start, here…

I am looking for a new gallery script for my comics, but I may have to tweak that (html/php) too, since I don’t see exactly what I want out there yet… oh well.
Never-ending battle for gallery stuff! 😛

Toran pic + Some thoughts on creativity and work

This is from “My Sweet Indulgence”– the poster that’s on Teri’s wall. XD Super-old (again), so it’s in the 2008 category. 🙂

You know, I’ve realized that simply thinking about the work, mulling over about the work, and planning the time to do the work is NOT the same as actually DOING the work. I’m talking about drawing out my comics for me. I can feel like I’m making so much progress inwards, and thinking that I have so many great ideas (how egotistical of me?), but if they don’t come out, what’s the big deal about them? Are they really that good? How will my words and pictures impact people if they never come out?? After all, anyone can have an idea about almost anything, but it’s the fruition– the actual application and bringing it out into the world as how you imagined it– which is the absolute, hardest part. Why do you think people/artist have to practice for years and years and writers have to go through so many stories and drafts to get better and better? It takes a lot of work. Not imagined work. Not dreamed work. But WORK-work, lol.

So, dreaming about what you want to draw (this is me talking to myself here too) is only the start. The motivation and inspiration needs to take care of the rest, initiate the process, and actually let/make you work on it to bring it forth!

We have to train our minds to think like our spirits, do. I feel our intuition and our spirits know what we want (in our imaginations– when it’s working correctly, that is), but we have to train our bodies and minds to comply. It’s really hard! (P.S. When I say ‘working correctly’, I mean when our imaginations are ‘going wild’ in the positive, creative way; not in the sheltered, fearful, paranoid way…!) Even in the spiritual aspect, training your mind to think more purely like God is the absolute hardest thing, in and of itself. (For me, that’s very hard, too!) We may never get out exactly what we want to do– in our hearts and in our spirits and minds, not even physically– but we can always do our best and just try, try and try again!! 🙂

I’m trying to do a lot of cleaning out in terms of my files (images/pictures/drawings). Being a bit more organized, I want to develop more concrete plans for getting my comics/stories out there. It doesn’t mean anything if you’ve got a dozen great ideas that are just fuzzy memories, and no concrete stories to go with them! (At least, that’s how it feels to me.) Maybe I’ll make more ebooks or self-published materials… We’ll see.

Also, is anyone else excited & psyched for the new Manga Studio 5?!? Looks like we’ll finally be able to color in a Photoshop/Paint Tool Sai-like way! I hope they have more screentones, too… Guess I’ll need to upgrade my Manga Studio EX 4 soon… but I’ll probably wait till they make Manga Studio EX 5 this summer.
